Classic Marble Cake
The best of both worlds in one stunning cake. Swirls of vanilla and chocolate batter create a beautiful marble pattern that looks as impressive as it tastes. This nostalgic favorite is perfect for anyone who cannot decide between vanilla and chocolate.
Ingredients
- 12 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 22 teaspoons baking powder
- 31/2 teaspoon salt
- 41 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 51 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 64 large eggs
- 72 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 81 cup whole milk
- 91/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 102 tablespoons milk (additional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch bundt pan or two 9-inch loaf pans.
Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 4 minutes.
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each. Stir in the vanilla.
Add the dry ingredients alternately with 1 cup of milk, mixing until just combined.
Divide the batter evenly into two bowls.
In one bowl, stir in the cocoa powder and 2 tablespoons of milk until smooth. This is the chocolate portion.
Drop alternating spoonfuls of vanilla and chocolate batter into the prepared pan.
Run a knife through the batter in a swirly figure-eight motion to create the marble effect.
Bake for 35-40 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool before serving.
